What’s new in 2026

What changed in vfx and motion graphics this year, and how we use it

01

Gaussian splats go mainstream

Nuke 17 added native Gaussian-splat support in February 2026 and Houdini 21 includes it in preview, so captured real-world scenes can now be lit and composited in production.

02

Real-time final pixels

Unreal Engine 5 and LED volume stages now deliver final shots for ads and mid-budget productions, not just previews.

03

AI inside the pipeline

Tools such as Beeble and Runway Aleph handle relighting, rotoscoping and object removal, cutting days of frame-by-frame work while artists keep creative control.

04

OpenUSD as the common format

OpenUSD has become the shared format between 3D tools, which makes it easier to hand assets to and from your other vendors.

AI in the loop

How AI speeds up vfx and motion graphics

AI handles rotoscoping, tracking, relighting passes and upscaling. Artists stay in control of look, timing and the final composite.

FAQ

VFX and Motion Graphics FAQs

What is the difference between VFX and motion graphics?

Motion graphics animate designed elements such as text, logos, icons and charts. VFX (visual effects) combine or alter filmed footage with computer-generated elements, for example placing a 3D product into a scene or removing objects.

How much does a 3D product animation cost?

Short motion pieces are included in our Standard and Premium plans. Complex 3D product films are quoted per project after we review your product files and references.

Do you need 3D models of my product?

CAD or 3D files speed things up, but we can also model from photos and measurements, or capture real products and locations with photogrammetry and Gaussian splatting.

How long does a VFX shot take?

Motion graphics pieces take 3 to 5 days. CGI and compositing shots usually take 1 to 3 weeks depending on complexity and revisions.
